Swedish vs. deep-tissue massage — what's the difference?
Swedish massage uses long, gentle strokes for relaxation. Deep-tissue applies firm pressure to release chronic muscle tension and knots. Both are typically 60–90 minutes.
Swedish
- Light to medium pressure
- Relaxation, stress relief, circulation
- Best for first-timers and weekly self-care
Deep tissue
- Firm, focused pressure
- Targets chronic tension, sports recovery, postural issues
- Mild soreness 24–48h is normal
Communicate with your therapist throughout — pressure should challenge but never cause sharp pain.
