How long does a keratin treatment last?
A keratin smoothing treatment lasts 3 to 5 months on average. Sulfate-free shampoo, low-heat styling, and avoiding chlorine and saltwater make it last longer.
Most professional keratin treatments (Brazilian Blowout, Cezanne, GK Hair, etc.) last 12–20 weeks. Lifespan depends on:
- Aftercare — sulfate- and sodium-chloride-free shampoo is non-negotiable
- Heat exposure — daily flat-ironing degrades the bond
- Water — chlorine, salt water, and hard water shorten it
- Wash frequency — every other day or less is ideal
A "split-end" or partial keratin touch-up around the front and crown can extend the look another 6–8 weeks before a full redo.
